If you are coming to Turn Over the Page… this weekend, you may already be aware that there are road closures and diversions in place from 0400 on Saturday 29 March to 0500 on Monday 31 March 2008. Shoreditch High Street will be closed so that a railway bridge can be installed for the East London line extension. 

There will be no vehicle or pedestrian access between Bethnal Green Road and Commercial Street, and Shoreditch High Street will be closed to through-traffic between Old Street and Commercial Street. Access will be maintained to all properties.

All traffic and buses will be diverted, so please allow up to 40 minutes extra for your journey. We recommend that you come down Bethnal Green Road from the Bethnal Green end, or if driving, to access Bethnal Green Road via Commercial Street or Great Eastern Street. There will be diversion signs in place to help assist your journey.

There is a pedestrian diversion in place for the weekend via Great Eastern Street onto Bethnal Green Road which is as follows:

* From Bishopsgate/Shoreditch High St, walk up Great Eastern Street
* Turn right into Holywell Lane/King John Court 
* Walk up King John Court
* Turn right into New Inn Yard
* Turn right again along Shoreditch High Street
* Turn left into Bethnal Green Road

Walk up to the Brick Lane -Bethnal Green Road Junction

Turn left into Brick Lane and Rhoda St is first on the left

Sunday March 30th, 2-6pm

Come and join an unusual book trail, and find yourself sampling four different sites in Shoreditch, with writers at each site, children’s activities, a treasure hunt and even – if you are lucky – a tea dance on the grass at the very end!

TURN OVER THE PAGE… is an event in the Get London Reading Challenge

Each site has it own theme, number and colour -

Rhoda St Green (North Brick Lane Residents’ Association) – the 1940s. Site 1 (Yellow ) 

St Hilda’s East, entry: Montclare St - Mini-Beasts (under 5s)  Site 2 (Green) 

Wonder Garden at Rochelle School – Food.  Site 3 (Red)  

Arnold Circus bandstand gardens Exploration. Site 4 (Blue)

TURN OVER THE PAGE…!

Walking between the sites will take you ten minutes at the most. And on the way, keep your eyes open. Fifty books will have been hidden here and there. If you find something you just don’t care for, you can take it to the Book Swap Table and pick yourself out another one.  And collect a serial story, written specially bu Shyama Perera, one instalment on each site, as you walk the route and Turn Over the Page…
